Join the Woodland Ways Team and our in country partners, led by Humberto Costa, on an epic two week adventure to the Brazilian Amazon Jungle environment. Here you will spend 10 days living and working within the Jungle, plus a few days either side for travel and tourist experiences, as we journey deep into the heart of the rainforest.
We will guide you through the essential skills for surviving within one of the planets most challenging and yet rewarding environments. Here Jason writes “I remember my first experience of the jungle 2 decades ago, I had naively imagined an environment full of resources easily to hand that would make my life such an unimaginably comfortable existence that why would I leave… but nothing prepared me for how little I knew. As I picked up my first guide book on the trees of the jungle and opened the pages, with just list upon list of scientific names which comprised pretty much the whole book, I knew I was about to embark on a life long journey of knowledge that I would never complete… this environment is not one to be taken lightly, but wow, when you embrace it nothing can compare. I learnt so much from the indigenous people I met, and the local experts who live and breathe this environment, and therein lies the key to opening up the opportunities that the jungle can provide. I have been working on pulling this expedition together now for two years alongside a man I greatly admire Humberto Costa, and I am excited to be joining you on our 2025 expedition”
You will join our team consisting of biologists, military personnel, expedition medics, chef, translators- all of whom have extensive experience in this environment, and of course the indigenous tribes who live along the river. With this team you will learn the skills of what it takes to survive in the largest tropical forest in the world-. And as per our usual ethics, we keep your costs as low as possible whilst ensuring your money goes in to supporting the local tribes people and economy. We do not think that this can be matched.
We will begin our training from a Fixed camp within the jungle, where over 5 days we will cover a variety of different training modules as outlined below, following this we then immerse ourselves into an indigenous riverine village to further hone our skills as we gain experience and knowledge from the true masters of the jungle, those that have made it their home over thousands of years. We culminate our expedition with a final phase of putting everything into practice where you are left in the jungle, either alone or in pairs/small groups, to set up camp and survive relying on the skills you have learnt.
